Join a National Civic Education Initiative
The Power of Patriotism invites educators, Learner leaders, and school communities to participate in a federally supported initiative advancing high-quality U.S. history and civics education in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
Participation is offered at no cost to selected participants. Stipends and instructional supports are provided to reduce barriers and ensure equitable access.

The initiative offers multiple pathways for participation. Please select the option that best aligns with your role or interest.

EDUCATORS
Classroom Educators and related school staff interested in participating in national seminar cohorts focused on U.S. history, civics, and civic engagement.
Includes:

Upper-Elementary or middle-grade Learners nominated to participate alongside Educators in seminars and student-led civic action projects.

Participation expectations are communicated clearly prior to acceptance, and supports are designed to ensure access for educators and students from diverse contexts.
Eligibility and Selection Priorities
Selection for participation is competitive and guided by the goals of the initiative. Priority consideration is given to applicants who:

Serve K–6 Learners

Work in Title I, rural, remote, or under-resourced communities

Demonstrate interest in strengthening Civic education

Commit to implementing seminar learning in classroom or community settings
The initiative seeks geographic diversity and representation across states, districts, and school types.
Application Process
Application timelines vary by cohort. Applicants are encouraged to apply early.
STEP 1: SUBMIT AN APPLICATION
Complete the appropriate application or nomination form.
STEP 2: REVIEW & SELECTION
Applications are reviewed by the project team in alignment with initiative goals.
STEP 3: NOTIFICATION
Applicants are notified of selection status and next steps.
STEP 4: ONBOARDING
Selected participants receive onboarding materials, schedules, and access to resources.

No. Participation is offered at no cost. Stipends are provided to support equitable access.
How much time does participation require?
Seminar cohorts involve approximately 30+ hours over a defined period, with additional time for classroom implementation.
Is this initiative political?
No. The initiative is nonpartisan and focused on historical understanding, civic knowledge, and democratic participation.
What if my school has limited technology access?
The initiative is designed to support low-bandwidth and flexible participation models.
Do participants receive professional development credit?
Professional development recognition may be available depending on district and state policies.
