About The Power of Patriotism

The Power of Patriotism is a three-year national initiative led by Long Island University in partnership with The School House and the American Emergent Curriculum. Supported by a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the initiative delivers immersive U.S. History and Civics seminars for K–6 Educators and Learners across the United States in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.

Through six intensive seminar cohorts, interdisciplinary Civic Learning Resource Sets, and Learner-led civic action projects, the initiative will train more than 300 Educators and Learners, reaching over 50,000 students across 15 or more states. The program prioritizes participation from Title I schools, rural and remote communities, and historically underserved populations through accessible and flexible delivery models.

The initiative emphasizes historical understanding, instructional excellence, and applied civic learning—supporting educators and students in developing the knowledge, confidence, and civic agency essential to sustaining democratic participation.
